This a blog created by two handbag-obsessed journalist co-workers and friends, Kari Barnett and Joanie Cox. It all started when they realized they spoke "Prada" and "Ferragamo" over by the company coffee pot. Each day, we'll show you a purse from our "purse-onal" collection. Now let's get Karried away because together...we are Kari Bagshaw!

Behold...the majesty of the Louis Vuitton Epi Neverfull MM
When I got my first real writing job, I dropped an entire paycheck on a taxi cab yellow-hued Louis Vuitton Epi Jasmine bag. It was irresponsible yes, but I was 21 and had to have it. Now, Louis Vuitton has released its iconic Neverfull MM bag in an Epi version! It's $2,010, I can never afford it and I just need to take a minute to say how much I'm obsessed with this bag. It's the perfect tote. It comes with a matching pouchette inside. This bag has the right name though. If you get it, your wallet is Neverfull. #purseobsession #champagnetastebeerbudget

My latest purchase: The Tory Burch Jane Shopper Tote
I have a weakness for Tory Burch designs, but I can't always afford my habit. I had seen this bag at the Tory Burch store in Boca Raton but the back originally sold for over $200. I was thrilled to score the bag at Plato's Closet in Boca Raton. I am obsessed with the sleek simplicity of this tote. It's the perfect summer to fall accessory and the logo charm is a cool twist on the traditional Tory tote.

Kate Spade releases The Joanie bag and Joanies everywhere rejoice!
Behold, The Catherine Street Joanie Bag. Kate Spade, who is a master of happy colors and clean lines has done it again with this sleek satchel and shoulder bag. Available in basic black, emerald and plum color combinations, this ladylike leather bag is a must-have for late summer/early fall. The bow-tie pattern inside the purse is an added surprise and reminds me of my favorite bow-tie icon, Pee-wee:) The bag costs $398 at Katespade.com. And since the bag happens to share my name, I really, really want to get my hands on this as soon as possible.

Caught in the clutches of loving Target's latest designer collaboration!
Hot on the heels of the not so popular Neiman Marcus + Target holiday collection is the irresistible collection of colorful clothing and accessories from New York designer Prabal Gurung. I knew the line was going to be a hit when one of my fashionable friends texted me from New York City asking me if I was going to Target the day the collection was hitting stores. The concept behind the line is genius. It's all inspired by the process of falling of love from the crush to the first date to the first kiss to a lifelong love affair.
While I almost never carry a clutch because I have too many things I need to take with me to events such as my camera, wallet, keys, cell phone and notepad, I went on a wild hunt for the Prabal Gurung For Target Nolita Clutch. This multicolor handbag comes with a removable chain strap. It's small, barely fits my iPhone and a lipstick and it's completely impractical. But if love this bag is wrong, I don't wanna be right. Since it was sold out online and in most stores, I had to use Target.com's location device to find a store near me that had it in stock. I trekked to Delray Beach to get it at the Target there and there was only one left at that location when I got mine.
I went so nuts over this, I also had to have the black lace clutch (featured below) as well. With each clutch costing just $34.99 each, it's a steal as far as evening bags go. Actress Carey Mulligan recently sported this clutch at an event. I think these bags will work perfectly for a cruise since all you need is your lipstick, a pocket camera and cruise card on a boat. I gave up buying purses and shoes for Lent so these were my last buys before the big fast.

Which bag is most like your man?
Kari and I often think about wacky ways accessories affect our lives while sitting in our work cubicles in the newsroom. Yesterday, we couldn't resist a fun, new game we came up with. If your boyfriend, fiance or husband was a handbag, which one would he be?
My husband, Greg henry (pictured below) would definitely be a Louis Vuitton Speedy 30 Mon Monogram; $1,100 with vertical stripes because he's classic, dependable, easy to hold and locked into what matters to him. He's a man of tradition and the fact that this bag offers your personal initials as part of the logo adds to the style and sophistication of this piece.

New year, new bag...
We're now almost into the second month of 2013 and there are dozens of spectacular new styles to drool over this spring. Here are my top 3 picks so far for the new year.
1. Cole Haan Crosby Colorblock Tote Bag; $298 at Neimanmarcus.com. I love the fine craftsmanship of this bag and the ease of carrying it multiple ways. I like to fantasize about swinging it over my shoulder for a day of yachting, a picnic in Cape Cod or carrying it from day to night for mojitos on Lincoln Road.
3. Gucci Bright Bit Patent Leather Shoulder Bag in teal; $890 at Neimanmarcus.com. This practical and classic shoulder bag is a tribute to the bag Gucci always did well. It's clean, it's in a crisp color and it will be a collector's piece in decades to come for its structure and smooth lines. I love this bag for all the right reasons.

2. Prada Saffiano Bicolor Tote bag; $1,890 on Neimanmarcus.com. I love this bag because it reminds me of a cool, refreshing glacier or ice cream on a hot day. The color-blocking is fun yet done in a less trendy way. And once again, the multiple ways to carry the bag via top handles or shoulder strap make it multiple bags in one. This is a trend we're seeing now--most likely because women spending this much on a bag need to get their money's worth and be able to have a handbag that's multifunctional at the end of the day.
